Salary: Up to £65000 + excellent benefits including 5% bonus, 15% client pension contribution and 28 days holiday. £2k/month travel allowance will also be provided for individuals living more then 2 hours drive from the site

Our client, Sizewell 'C', is looking for a skilled construction industry professional with experience of leadership in civils, highways or infrastructure ops to take on the key role of Site Operations Assistant Project Manager to support their UK nuclear power station construction project. 

Reporting directly to the Site Operations Service Manager, the individual will be responsible for the day-to-day coordination and management of infrastructure and utility operation and maintenance contracts.. This will include managing the day-to-day operation and maintenance of site-wide services, including roads, temporary civils, utilities, and off-site property. They will lead contractor teams, drive service performance, and ensure safe, compliant operations supporting a workforce of up to 10,000.

This role would ideally suit someone with experience of leading and/or managing a highways maintenance or similar contract in a regulated / high security industry.

The position will be based full-time (5 days/wk) on the Sizewell C site (IP16 4EW). Occasional evening and/or weekend work might also be required dependant on project requirements.

JOB PURPOSE

The Site Operations Infrastructure Lead (Assistant Project Manager) reports directly to the Site Operations Service Manager and is responsible for the day to day coordination and management of the infrastructure & utility operation & maintenance contracts. The Infrastructure Delivery Lead will manage contractor teams carrying out multiple activities across site including but not limited to highway maintenance, multiple temporary and permanent Infrastructure construction and maintenance works to support the various Site Operations Service Contracts to enable the safe and successful operation of the wider Site Operations project delivery.

In summary, this is the operation and maintenance of temporary and permanent assets required to support the wider delivery of the project. The breadth of scope may, including but is not limited to, minor civils to roads and networks, temporary buildings, pedestrian and vehicular access, security plazas, and off site affective property maintenance.

The Site Operations Infrastructure Lead (APM) is responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient delivery of a singular but substantial support service to the wider project in accordance with all safety, quality, time and cost parameters to meet the needs of the construction project. The Infrastructure Delivery Lead will provide technical input and advice for their scope of work – and may be involved in all stages from Feasibility Studies, Pre-Construction, Construction & Operation of the asset within their key contract area. In addition, advice and support to other projects whom may require more engineering focused support in development and delivery of their service lines within the project. This wider support and advice may cover the full breadth of the Site Operations service lines including but not limited to facilities management, logistics, bussing, catering and accommodation.

The Site Operations Infrastructure Lead (APM) will be responsible for overseeing and supporting our contract teams to maintain a high health, safety and environmental ethic meeting planned cyclical maintenance programmes for the duration of the project build.

The role would suit someone who has experience on a major project working within a highly regulated environment with experience as an Infrastructure Lead delivering highway and construction asset operation and maintenance.

SCOPE OF WORK

Manage day to day the provision of a critical site support service to the peak construction workforce of circa 10,000.
Work with the Service Manager to control delivery within agreed financial limits.
Be accountable for safe delivery within the projects being managed and demonstrate wider safety leadership across the overall project.
Be accountable for ensuring all statutory, regulatory and site controls are complied with
Form effective relationships with their service contract partners and champion clarity, respect, positivity, humility and integrity
Managing temporary design and design change with all site operations functional stakeholder to ensure that their functional requirements are met.
Ensure that planned minor construction works are interfaced with other surrounding contractors and stakeholders.
Ensure our contract partners teams are fully competent to perform their assigned roles – and that any shortfalls are reported to the Service Manager without delay
Develop and implement plans to ensure service delivery meets or exceeds the expectations and project work schedule
Ensure early intervention to avoid any escalation of issues affecting service delivery by working in the spirit of a 'one team approach'

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

Within a medium to large scale programme, co-ordinates the programme’s portfolio of projects, on a day to day basis on behalf of senior management, to ensure maximum efficiency in the allocation of common resources and skills.
Leads a Programme of work and ensures that project deliveries within this are completed to time, cost and quality standards
Manages third party contributions to the programme
Facilitates the appointment of senior/project managers to the project delivery teams and manages their assignment
Ensures that the appropriate environment is developed to support senior/project managers, including the processes and practices for managing projects and the training and coaching of or project managers and teams
Ensures that there is efficient allocation of common resources and skills within the project portfolio
Puts in place systems, processes and measures to ensure that exceptions, slippage and issues of priority are effectively managed, and that extra activities are initiated wherever gaps in the programme are identified
Monitors overall progress and initiates corrective action, as appropriate, to ensure that deliverable are produced on time, within budget and to acceptable quality
Manages both the dependencies and the interfaces between projects
Manages the communications with all stakeholders
Reporting progress of the programme at regular intervals to the Programme Director, relevant Committees or Senior Management
Shapes, mobilises and resources new project activities as the Programme enters the next phase
Ensures effective handover as project activities complete
Provides strategic, unbiased and objective advisory services which assists Sizewell C in improving their productivity and overall performance
Works closely with the internal stakeholders within the governance structure, and establish and maintain effective relationships with all key stakeholders.
DIMENSIONS

The position will be directly accountable for the contract management of multiple and diverse service delivery contracts up to the value of £100m.
Areas of responsibility will not necessarily be limited to the main SZC construction site – but are also likely to include a number of off-site associated developments.
Area management responsibilities include working across the Area Management model enabling Best for Project decisions.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Essential

Management [or leadership] experience in a highways or similar construction service led environment.
Experience of working in a high security environment.
Experience in managing multiple teams.
Must be confident in own abilities and be able to deliver in a dynamic environment.
Willingness to learn from both successes and failures.
Proven experience within a large complex project environment.
Excellent communication skills and able to strike up effective working relationships.
Must be willing to work with our local supply chain partners in a collaborative environment.
Desirable

HND standard education in a related subject or related experience and skill set.

Previous experience with construction of Modular Buildings
Previous experience with construction of Vehicular / Pedestrian Main Site Access Points
Previous experience with construction Quality Control & Assurance
Microsoft Project & Office Packages
AutoCAD Experience
Experience of working with and developing budgets.
