Your new organisation is a well established social housing provider which is based in the Southwest with future growth plans. The organisation in question is looking to engage with an experienced Building Surveyor who is looking for a fresh career challenge as we head into 2025.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct Surveys: Perform comprehensive surveys of properties to identify damp and mould issues using diagnostic tools like moisture meters and hygrometers.
- Report Preparation: Prepare detailed reports outlining findings, causes, and recommended actions for damp and mould issues.
- Remedial Oversight: Oversee remedial work carried out by contractors, ensuring they meet industry standards and is completed effectively.
- Health and Safety: Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations and guidelines.
- Client Communication: Provide clear and concise communication to clients regarding the nature of the issues and the steps required to resolve them.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with the latest industry standards and best practices related to damp and mould management.
Key Requirements for the position
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of building construction, damp and mould pathology, and relevant legislation.
- Diagnostic Skills: Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and techniques to assess dampness and mould.
- Report Writing: Excellent report writing skills to document findings and recommendations.
- Project Management: Ability to manage projects from inception to completion, including coordinating with contractors and ensuring timely completion of works.
- Customer Service: Strong customer service skills to effectively communicate with clients and address their concerns.
- Qualifications: Relevant qualifications in surveying or building construction, such as HNC in Surveying or Construction & Built Environment. Additional certifications in damp and mould management are advantageous.
Desirable skills
- Experience: Previous experience in a similar role, particularly within social housing or property management.
- Professional Memberships: Membership in professional bodies such as RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) or CIOB (Chartered Institute of Building).
This role is crucial for maintaining the health and safety of buildings and ensuring a comfortable living environment for occupants of the organisation’s housing stock.
