Head Of Finance
As Head of Finance, you will be responsible for leading the company’s financial strategy and ensuring robust day-to-day financial management across our super-prime residential projects. With typical project values of £6m–£10m, you will oversee cashflow, project finance, and group structuring to support sustainable growth.
Sitting on the Senior Leadership Team, you will provide strategic financial direction while also retaining a hands-on approach, able to step into operational finance when required.
You will act as a key financial partner to the Commercial and Operations Directors, ensuring margin protection, strong forecasting, and financial resilience. Externally, you will represent the company with banks, auditors, and investors, supporting our reputation as a financially strong and well-managed contractor.
* Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with significant post-qualificationexperience.
* Experience in construction or project-based industries (super-prime residential a strong advantage).
* Proven track record in both strategic finance leadership and operational delivery.
* Strong knowledge of construction finance, including CIS, project cashflows,valuations, and subcontractor management.
* Familiarity with Xero and Fathom desirable; experience scaling systems and implementing ERP advantageous.
* Strong commercial acumen with ability to partner with project and commercial teams.
Strategic Finance & Leadership
* Develop and deliver the companies financial strategy, aligned with business growth and long-term objectives.
* Provide financial leadership at SLT level, advising on investment, risk, and cashflow planning.
* Oversee group structuring, JV vehicles, and new business ventures.
* Optimise cashflows in collaboration with the Commercial Director, ensuring projects are delivered with healthy margins.
* Prepare Board-level reporting packs, providing insight and recommendations to Directors.
Construction & Project Finance
* Manage project-level financial oversight: valuations, WIP, retentions, subcontractor payments, and CIS compliance.
* Lead forecasting and cost-to-complete reviews, working closely with Project Managers and QS teams.
* Monitor and challenge project variances, ensuring accurate and timely reporting of risks and opportunities.
* Ensure robust cashflow forecasting and working capital management.
