Estimator / Quantity Surveyor

An opportunity to join an established Civil Engineering contractor operating across Somerset and the surrounding counties. My client is recruiting for an experience Estimator / Quantity Surveyor to take commercial control of Civil Engineering and Highway projects and be responsible for supporting pricing, tenders and pre-contract planning, through to cost control and contractual compliance.

As an Estimating Quantity Surveyor, you will:

* Be responsible for preparing cost estimates and tender submissions for highways & civil engineering projects.

* Analyse drawings/specifications, and contract documents to prepare accurate costings.

* Negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors, evaluating best value options.

* Maintain accurate records, control and reconcile costs and value, report variances against agreed performance, compliance and finance targets.

* Take control of change management.

* Be involved in a review of current procedures and processes and assist in the implementation of new and revised processes where required.

Our client requires an Estimating Quantity Surveyor with:

* Degree or equivalent in Quantity Surveying or Civil Engineering discipline

* Experience of working for a Civil Engineering contractor.

* Knowledge of NEC and JCT forms of contract.

* Strong commercial awareness and acumen.

* Excellent communication skills.

Salary and benefits include:

* £40,000 – £55,000 per annum

* Company vehicle, car allowance

* Holiday entitlement, pension scheme, sick pay etc.
