Technical Engineer

Reynco Ltd is recruiting for a Technical Engineer to join a fast-growing specialist manufacturer within the roofing and building envelope sector. This role is focused on pre-contract technical sales, combining engineering knowledge, CAD interpretation, and project costing with strong communication skills to support contractors, roofing specialists, and architects.

Location: Hertfordshire (office-based, full-time)
Salary: £35,000 – £45,000 DOE + Bonus + Benefits

The Role
As Technical Engineer, you will play a critical role in supporting early project involvement, providing accurate technical advice, and preparing costings for complex construction projects. You will interrogate CAD drawings, liaise with clients, and prepare quotations that ensure successful project outcomes. This role sits at the centre of pre-contract activity, offering strong long-term progression into pre-contract/project management roles.
Key Responsibilities:
* Review and interpret project information and CAD drawings to determine accurate product/system solutions.
* Provide technical support and advice to clients, specifiers, and contractors.
* Prepare quotations and budget costings, ensuring accuracy and alignment with project requirements.
* Liaise with internal teams to coordinate technical and commercial input.
* Record and manage enquiries through HubSpot, ensuring structured follow-up and deal management.
* Support specification opportunities by engaging with architects and consultants at early project stages.
* Deliver a high standard of client service and contribute to the continuous improvement of the sales process.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for a technically minded and motivated professional who enjoys problem-solving and delivering accurate solutions in a client-facing environment.
Requirements:

Background in mechanical engineering or strong technical aptitude.

Ability to read, review, and manipulate CAD drawings.
*
Experience in project costing, estimating, or technical sales within construction or manufacturing.
*
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
*
Organised, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple enquiries at once.
*
Construction/roofing/building envelope knowledge advantageous, but not essential.
Desirable:
*
Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mathematics, or a related discipline.
*
Graduate applications welcomed from candidates with a strong degree in mathematics or engineering who are eager to apply technical knowledge in a commercial setting.
*
Experience in roofing systems, metal products, or similar technical sectors.
*
Prior experience in estimator/project management roles within construction or industrial engineering.
