The Project

We’re working with a well-established main contractor delivering a landmark hotel development in Watford, forming part of a wider £500m regeneration scheme in the area. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join a dynamic project team on a high-profile build with longevity and future progression.

The Role

As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will support the commercial delivery of this major project, working closely alongside an experienced Senior QS. You will be responsible for managing multiple subcontractor packages from procurement through to final account.

This is a hands-on, client-facing role where you will gain exposure to all stages of the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

Assist in the commercial management of subcontractor packages

Prepare and review subcontractor valuations and variations

*

Support in procurement and tendering activities

*

Track and report project costs and budgets

*

Liaise with site teams and stakeholders to ensure smooth delivery

*

Work closely with the Senior Quantity Surveyor on cost planning and forecasting

Requirements

*

Minimum 3 years’ experience in a Quantity Surveying role

*

Main contractor background preferred

*

Experience on commercial or mixed-use construction projects

*

Strong communication and organisational skills

*

Relevant degree or equivalent in Quantity Surveying or related field

*

Confident managing multiple work packages
