Assistant Quantity Surveyor – Carpentry Sub-Contractor

Are you an ambitious Assistant Quantity Surveyor looking for more hands-on experience and faster progression? This is a great opportunity to join a growing carpentry sub-contractor in West Herts, specialising in new-build housing developments.

Unlike larger businesses where you might be stuck focusing on just one element of the role, this company offers you the chance to gain exposure to the full range of commercial responsibilities. You’ll be supported by experienced surveyors, but also trusted to take ownership and learn on the job in a practical, fast-moving environment.

The Role

Assisting with project budgets, valuations, and cost reports.

*

Helping prepare tenders, bids, and procurement of materials/labour.

*

Supporting subcontractor payments and account management.

*

Liaising with site teams, clients, and suppliers.

*

Monitoring costs, variations, and reporting directly to senior management.

About You

*

Ideally a degree or HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or similar.

*

Strong numerical, analytical, and organisational skills.

*

Great communication and a proactive, “can-do” approach.

*

Experience within construction (placement, internship, or entry-level role) is desirable, but not essential.
