Electrical Project Manager
Anderson Knight is partnering one of the leading Energy Efficiency Business including Hydro Generation, Biomass Boilers, LE Lighting, Ground and Air Source Heat Pumps, EV, Solar PV, Combined Heat and Power (CHP) covering Mechanical/Construction and Electrical Sectors. They are looking to appoint an Electrical Project Manager to be based out of Glasgow.
The Electrical Project Manager will be responsible for leading and managing electrical projects in the infrastructure and construction sectors. This includes overseeing installation, maintenance, and upgrades of electrical systems in power distribution networks, substations, transmission lines, and large commercial or infrastructure developments.
This role bridges the technical, operational, and managerial aspects of complex electrical projects, ensuring safety, compliance, cost control, and timely delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management
• Plan, execute, and deliver utility-scale or construction-related electrical projects from start to finish.
• Develop project scopes, timelines, cost estimates, and resource plans.
• Manage multiple projects concurrently across various job sites.
Technical Oversight
• Review electrical designs, drawings, and specifications.
• Coordinate with engineering teams, utilities, and contractors for design approval and technical decisions.
• Oversee installation and commissioning of electrical infrastructure (e.g., transformers, switchgear, underground/overhead lines).
Compliance & Quality Control
• Ensure all work complies with local utility standards, building codes, OSHA, and NEC/NESC (National Electric/Safety Codes).
• Perform inspections and coordinate third-party inspections or approvals.
Stakeholder & Vendor Coordination
• Interface with clients, consultants, local authorities, and utility providers.
• Manage subcontractors, electricians, vendors, and field supervisors.
Budgeting & Reporting
• Track budgets, control expenditures, and handle procurement of materials.
• Create and maintain progress reports, RFIs, change orders, and punch lists.
Health & Safety
• Implement and enforce job site safety plans.
• Conduct risk assessments and ensure safety training compliance.
Qualifications
o Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
o PMP or equivalent project management certification is a plus.
o Licensed Electrical Engineer or Journeyman/Master Electrician (varies by region).
• Experience:
o 5–10+ years of experience in utility, electrical infrastructure, or construction environments.
o Proven leadership in managing high-voltage or large-scale electrical projects.
Key Skills & Competencies
• In-depth understanding of:
o Utility infrastructure and distribution systems
o NEC, NESC, IEEE standards
o Power systems (HV/MV/LV)
o SCADA, relays, switchgear, transformers, etc.
• Project management tools (MS Project, Primavera, Procore, etc.)
• Excellent organizational, communication, and negotiation skills
• Budget and contract management
