Working Hours: 7:00 AM – 2:00 PM (Monday to Friday, term-time only)
Break: 30 minutes, unpaid
Salary: £15.00 per hour
We are looking for a dedicated and experienced School Cook to join a friendly and supportive team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about preparing and serving nutritious, delicious, and healthy meals for students and staff.
We will also consider a highly experienced Catering Assistant who has a proven background as a chef or in a similar professional cooking role.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan, prepare, and cook a variety of fresh meals in line with school menus and dietary requirements.
Ensure all food preparation, handling, and storage adheres to strict food safety and hygiene standards.
Manage stock control, including ordering, receiving, and rotating food supplies.
Supervise and work effectively with kitchen staff to deliver a high-quality, efficient service.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organised kitchen environment at all times.
Ensure all meals are prepared and ready for service at the scheduled time.
Requirements:
Proven experience as a Cook or Chef in a professional catering environment (e.g., school, care home, or restaurant).
A valid Enhanced DBS check is essential (or the willingness to apply for one).
A Level 2 Food Safety and Hygiene Certificate is required.
Excellent knowledge of food allergens and dietary requirements.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently.
