The Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join one of the UK’s most high-profile healthcare infrastructure programmes. As an Innovation Project Manager, you will lead the delivery of proof of concept (PoC) and proof of value (PoV) projects. These initiatives will test and validate pioneering digital, clinical, and estates solutions that shape the hospitals of the future.
You will ensure pilots are delivered to NHS standards, aligned with national digital and sustainability frameworks, and ready for scalable deployment across the programme.
Key Responsibilities

Plan, coordinate, and deliver PoC/PoV projects in areas such as smart wards, digital twins, and advanced building systems.
*
Ensure pilots comply with NHS digital, clinical safety, and cyber assurance requirements.
*
Align all initiatives with national healthcare design standards (Hospital 2.0), ensuring repeatable and scalable solutions.
*
Assess estates' impacts, applying NHS technical standards (HBNs/HTMs) and managing derogations where required.
*
Apply Construction Playbook principles, including outcome-based specifications and modern methods of construction.
*
Manage governance, risks, and reporting across all pilot activities.
*
Evaluate outcomes, document benefits, and recommend opportunities for programme-wide scaling.
About You
*
Proven track record of delivering innovation, PoC, or PoV projects in complex or regulated environments.
*
Strong knowledge of NHS digital assurance and clinical safety requirements.
*
Familiarity with NHS estates standards and their application to healthcare environments.
*
Experience with Construction Playbook practices and supplier engagement.
*
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to engage clinical, technical, and estates stakeholders.
*
Strong governance and risk management skills in multidisciplinary programmes.
Desirable
*
Experience in healthcare construction, digital health, or smart hospital technologies.
*
Understanding of cyber security frameworks and NHS data protection.
*
Knowledge of BIM, digital twins, interoperability standards, or modern methods of construction.
*
Professional project management qualifications (APM, PRINCE2, Agile).
*
Clinical Safety Officer training or willingness to complete.
