Masterplanner
An award-winning, design-led practice with a strong reputation for delivering innovative and sustainable residential-led projects is seeking a talented Masterplanner to join their London studio.
This multi-disciplinary team works across architecture, landscape, planning, interiors and urban design, with a diverse client base ranging from high profile master developers to design-led housebuilders and forward-thinking SMEs. Their collaborative approach ensures projects make a lasting and positive impact on the communities they serve.
The Role
As a Masterplanner, you will play a key role in shaping and delivering design visions for a wide-ranging portfolio of projects, from large-scale garden towns through to complex medium-rise housing sites. Working closely with senior colleagues, you will generate compelling design stories and prepare high-quality material for planning submissions, design codes, and stakeholder engagement.
You will also contribute to client and community presentations, public consultation events, and mentoring more junior staff, while ensuring outputs meet the highest standards of design and placemaking.
Key Responsibilities
Lead on design material from masterplan visioning through to Outline Planning submissions and Design Codes
Deliver high-quality outputs across CAD, SketchUp and Affinity (or Adobe CC)
Prepare planning and site analysis, feasibility studies, Vision Documents, Design & Access Statements, and parameter plans
Proactively propose design-led solutions and options
Liaise confidently with clients, stakeholders, and communities
Organise your own workload and coordinate the efforts of architectural assistants on multiple projects
About You
Minimum RIBA Part 1 qualification (RIBA Part 2/3 or equivalent urban design qualifications welcomed)
At least 3 years’ post-graduate experience in UK masterplanning, including Outline/Hybrid Planning Applications and Design Codes
Excellent drawing, CAD and 3D design skills (AutoCAD and SketchUp essential)
Strong presentation and graphics ability, with experience producing high-quality illustrated reports
Knowledge of UK planning policy and best practice in masterplanning
Passion for housing and placemaking, with strong communication and collaboration skills
Highly motivated, organised, and able to work both independently and as part of a team Why Apply?
