Site Engineer

The Company

My clients are a well-established and well-respected local groundworks and civil engineering contractor. They provide groundworks and civil engineering services to their blue-chip main contactor clients. Operating from their offices just outside of Bristol they work predominantly within a 40-50 radius, with work packages up to £8m in value. Projects are generally commercial, educational, NHS, Local Authority etc. They take pride in providing a quality product to their clients and also take pride on their high level of staff retention.

They consider themselves to have the professionalism of a larger company but the flexibility of a smaller company. Taking a non-adversarial approach to their work has resulted in a very strong order book with a good proportion of repeat business from their clients. Due to their continued success and organic expansion plans they are looking to recruit an experienced groundworks Site / Setting-out Engineer to join their small but friendly team.

The Role

You will generally be based out on site, with the majority of sites being within an hour’s drive of their offices. Duties will include predominantly setting out of ground works associated with the contracts that they are working on including all other duties expected of an engineer. Some site management many also be required depending on the candidate’s experience. Projects will range in value from a few hundred thousand pounds upwards. Geographically projects will generally be within 40-50 miles of Bristol.

The Candidate

The ideal candidate will have previous experience of working as a setting out / site engineer with previous groundwork experience, ideally working for a groundworks sub-contractor. You will ideally be educated to HNC/HND/ Degree level in a construction related subject. You will have experience of working on similar value construction projects and be passionate about what you do.

You will be able to integrate and work as part of a team. You will be organised and able to deal with any situation as and when it arrives, along with being proactive and driven.
