Site Manager Tier 1 GAS
Job Purpose
Accountable to the Operations Manager for the onsite coordination and delivery of Tier 1 gas projects. This role carries full ownership and responsibility for the delivery of Gas mains replacement, ensuring safety, compliance, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. The postholder will manage and direct the clients Tier 1 gas operations teams to achieve targets, KPIs, and contractual goals, while safeguarding company assets and upholding the highest standards of operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities
Project & Team Management
• Lead, direct, and manage assigned NDA gas operations teams in the delivery of
allocated projects as the authorised contractual representative.
• Deliver projects in line with the operational plan, meeting targets, KPIs, timescales, and budgets, while ensuring cost-effective use of resources.
• Support the Senior Manager with administration of allocated gas operations teams,
including:
• CDM packs and inductions
• Monitoring qualifications, competencies, and training requirements
• Team holiday and resource planning
• CP work.
• Ensuring customer satisfaction.
Project Ownership & Delivery
• Take end-to-end ownership of allocated projects through all phases: planning, delivery, and closure.
• Undertake and coordinate project-specific activities including due diligence, site visits,
resource allocation, construction phase planning (“push plans”), traffic management
development, client and Local Authority liaison, and site clearance.
• Coordinate with supporting functions and internal departments (Plans, Customer Care, Fitters, Reinstatement) to ensure effective project delivery, situational awareness, and reduced reactive activity
Safety, Compliance & Standards
• Act as Competent Person (CP) in support of gas operationsteams when required (SCO5).
• Act as Authorising Engineer (AE) for issuing Permits to Work(SCO1-2AE) or liaise with Client representatives under client-controlled systems.
• Maintain engineering and safety standards, ensuring compliance with regulations and
policies through audits, assurance checks, training sessions, toolbox talks, and proper
use of equipment (including CAT training).
• Ensure personal and team adherence to NDA policies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and safety frameworks.
Financial & Reporting
• Capture and report financial elements of projects including:
• CIPs
• Invoices
• Day Works
• Work Requests (WRs)
• Variations (VOs)
• Report Tier 1 variations and damages in line with SOPs (801 & 803). Stakeholder Engagement
• Attend and contribute to internal, client, and Local Authority planning and coordination
meetings as required.
• Act as a key point of contact for clients, authorities, and stakeholders, ensuring strong
communication and collaboration.
