Estimator
First Task are delighted to be working with an established, specialist sub-contractor who work with some of the UK’s largest contractors, delivering packages up to the value of £8m. The business has already secured approx. 75% of next year’s turnover and are actively recruiting an Estimator to join their pre-construction/commercial team.
The Estimator will play a key role in producing accurate and competitive tenders, providing detailed cost plans, and supporting the business in securing projects by delivering clear and well-prepared commercial proposals.
Key Requirements of the Role:
* Preparation of detailed cost estimates and tender submissions for projects up to £5m–£8m in value.
* Analyse drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare accurate quantities and costs.
* Liaise with clients, main contractors, and supply chain partners to obtain competitive quotations.
* Support in the development of bid strategies and value engineering opportunities to maximise project success.
* Ensure all tender documentation is compliant and submitted within deadlines.
* Maintain and develop strong supplier and subcontractor relationships to ensure accurate pricing.
* Provide cost advice and budgets during the pre-construction phase.
* Attend pre- and post-tender meetings, providing cost breakdowns and clarifications as required.
* Assist the Commercial and Contracts Managers with handover of secured projects to ensure accurate financial information is transferred.
Experience/Qualifications Required:
* BSc in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or relevant equivalent.
* Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
* Proven experience preparing estimates/tenders, ideally for a specialist subcontractor or main contractor.
* Good knowledge of construction processes and supply chains.
* Excellent numerical and analytical skills with strong attention to detail.
* Full UK driver’s license (occasional site visits or client meetings may be required)
