Estimator – Structural Steel

Are you an experienced Estimator looking to bring your skills to a well-established and growing structural steel business? Our client, a reputable steel fabrication company based in the Southwest, is seeking a detail-oriented and commercially minded Estimator to join their commercial team.

You'll be working on a wide range of steel projects-from industrial units and portal frames to complex multi-storey structures. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and is keen to take more ownership of the tendering process, with support to grow into a more senior role over time.

What You'll Be Doing

Prepare accurate and competitive estimates for structural steelwork projects
Analyse project drawings, specifications, and tender documents
Liaise with clients, main contractors, engineers, and suppliers to gather pricing and technical information
Conduct material take-offs and prepare cost breakdowns for labour, materials, and subcontractors
Identify project risks, value engineering opportunities, and alternative solutions
Attend pre- and post-tender meetings where required
Support handover to the contracts team and assist with procurement planning

What We're Looking For

Minimum 3 years of experience in estimating within structural steel, construction, or a related sector
Strong understanding of steel fabrication, erection processes, and associated costs
Able to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
Commercially aware with strong numerical and analytical skills
Excellent communication and negotiation abilities
