Materials Controller

About the Role:
We are looking for a motivated and organised Materials Controller to join our construction site team on a temp-to-perm basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on professional to demonstrate their expertise in managing materials, stock, and logistics, with the potential to secure a permanent position based on performance.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage the ordering, delivery, and storage of materials, plant, and equipment.

*

Liaise with suppliers, subcontractors, and site management to ensure timely delivery and cost efficiency.

*

Carry out material checks against delivery notes and purchase orders.

*

Maintain accurate stock records and monitor inventory levels.

*

Organise secure storage and ensure safe handling of all materials on site.

*

Issue materials to operatives and subcontractors as required.

*

Identify and report any shortages, damages, or quality issues.

*

Support waste reduction and environmental compliance initiatives.

*

Assist with material forecasting and budget management.

Skills & Experience:

*

Previous experience as a Materials Controller or Site Logistics Coordinator in construction.

*

Knowledge of construction materials, plant, and site processes.

*

Strong organisational and time management skills.

*

Effective communication and teamwork with site staff and suppliers.

*

IT literate, including stock control systems.

*

Health and Safety aware (Manual Handling, COSHH, etc.)

*

CSCS card required; Forklift / Telehandler licence advantageous.
