About Us
Hill McGlynn is working with a respected construction consultancy based in Maidstone. They are known for delivering high‑quality projects and technical expertise across residential & commercial construction. As part of their continued growth, they are looking to recruit a Design Coordinator / Consultant to strengthen their team.
The Role
You will play a key role in coordinating the design process from early concept through to delivery. Working closely with architects, engineers, project managers, and contractors, you will ensure that design output is accurate, compliant, buildable, and delivered on time. This is a hands‑on role, balancing technical design coordination with consultancy input, support, and problem solving.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage and coordinate design information and deliverables across multiple design disciplines (architectural, structural, services etc.)
* Produce and revise technical drawings and detail design documents, working with AutoCAD and related tools
* Review designs for constructability, consistency with specifications, and compliance with relevant standards/regulations
* Liaise with clients, consultants, contractors, and internal stakeholders to resolve design issues and clarify requirements
* Maintain up‑to‑date drawing registers, track design revisions, circulate updates, and ensure design documentation is well organised
* Assist in preparing technical reports, presentations and specification documents
* Contribute to pre‑construction / feasibility reviews, cost‑planning input and value‑engineering exercises where required
Skills & Experience
* Proven experience in a design coordination or consultancy technical design role in the construction sector
* Experience working on plasterboard / drywall / partitioning / internal lining systems is a significant advantage
* Strong proficiency in AutoCAD; knowledge of other design software / tools is a plus
* Good understanding of construction methodologies, building regulations, specification issues, and design standards
* Excellent communication skills: able to interact with clients, consultants, subcontractors and internal teams
* Strong organisational & time management skills: able to manage multiple tasks / projects and work to deadlines
* Attention to detail and problem solving mindset
