About the Company

A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen to join a family-run, market-leading specialist in the design, manufacture and installation of balcony systems for the construction sector. This is a hybrid role with 2-3 days per week based in their Reading office.

Role: Estimator

You’ll play a key part in ensuring the success of new and ongoing projects through accurate costing, commercial insight, and close collaboration with design, operations, and procurement teams. Key Responsibilities: Estimator

* Prepare detailed cost estimates and tenders for balcony systems (materials, labour, logistics, subcontractor costs)

* Collaborate with design/engineering teams to interpret drawings, specifications and design intentions

* Analyse supplier/subcontractor quotes, negotiate rates and identify value engineering opportunities

* Monitor cost trends, material rates, and adjust estimates accordingly

* Assist in risk assessment and margin modelling (contingencies, allowances)

* Liaise with internal project teams to ensure clarity and alignment of scope and deliverables

* Provide support during project lifecycle — value changes, pricing variations, cost tracking

What You Bring

* Proven experience as an Estimator in construction, façade, structural, or specialist subcontracting environment

* Strong commercial aptitude, attention to detail and analytical mindset

* Ability to read architectural, structural and MEP drawings

* Excellent negotiation and supplier management skills

* Good communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally

* Proficiency in relevant estimating / cost software (or willingness to learn)
