Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Site Manager to lead the delivery of nationwide flat roof projects in live retail supermarket environments. The Site Manager will take full responsibility for setting up, managing, and closing down sites, ensuring that works are delivered safely, on time, and to the highest quality standards. This role requires strong leadership, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to liaise confidently with contractors, client representatives, and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
* Set up, manage, and closing down construction sites in line with project requirements.
* Deliver projects in accordance with programme deadlines and client expectations.
* Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations on site.
* Carry out site inductions, toolbox talks (TBTs) and maintain daily/weekly checklists.
* Supervise and coordinate multiple trades, including roofing contractors, M&E contractors, joiners, scaffolders, height safety contractors, and others.
* Liaise with store managers, duty managers, maintenance managers, technicians, client project managers, and other stakeholders.
* Report internally to Contracts Managers, providing regular updates on progress, issues, and site audits.
* Work collaboratively with the Principal Designer during audits.
* Monitor workmanship and quality, ensuring all works are delivered to specification and to a high standard.
* Attend out-of-hours activities as required, including Sunday crane lifts.
Essential Requirements
* Valid, in-date CSCS card.
* SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) Certificate.
* Proven experience as a Site Manager, ideally within live retail or roofing/construction environments.
* Strong knowledge of health & safety practices and legislation.
* Excellent organisational and leadership skills.
* Ability to communicate and liaise effectively with contractors, clients, and stakeholders.
* Own transport and willingness to travel nationwide.
* Ability to work away from home when required.
Desirable
* Previous experience managing roofing or refurbishment projects in live environments.
* First Aid at Work certificate.
* Fire Marshall/Warden certificate
* Temporary Works or Crane Lift planning experience.
