We are seeking an experienced Site Manager to oversee and manage civil engineering projects with a focus on groundworks, foundations, drainage, and general civils. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe, timely, and cost-effective delivery of projects, ensuring compliance with health, safety, quality, and environmental standards. This role involves managing site teams, subcontractors, and resources while maintaining strong client and stakeholder relationships. The Site Manager will produce and manage project programmes, risk assessments, method statements, and procurement schedules, ensuring all works meet contractual and regulatory requirements. A strong background in civils, including drainage and foundations, is essential, alongside the ability to lead teams, resolve technical challenges, and drive continuous improvement and value engineering opportunities.
Skills:
Extensive experience in civils, groundworks, foundations, and drainage
Strong knowledge of construction methods, health & safety, and environmental compliance
Proven ability to manage site teams and subcontractors effectively
Competent in programme and risk management, including forecasting and cost control
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Ability to produce and implement RAMS, ITPs, and safe systems of work
Experience with contract management, preferably NEC or JCT contracts
Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities
Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Ability to lead and motivate teams, ensuring high standards of compliance and quality
Software/Tools:
Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Project management software (e.g., Primavera P6) – desirable
AutoCAD – desirable
Certifications & Standards:
CSCS Site Manager or Supervisor card (essential)
SMSTS or IOSH Managing Safely (essential)
NVQ Level 3 or above in Construction Site Supervision or Management (preferred)
Temporary Works Coordinator (preferred)
First Aid at Work (desirable)
NRSWA Supervisor (desirable)
Knowledge of CDM Regulations and NEC contract conditions
