Freelance Construction Site Manager – Internals

£10m New Build Community Project, Bristol

Are you a seasoned construction professional with a passion and perfection for delivering internal fit-outs to the highest standards? We're seeking a proactive Freelance Construction Site Manager to oversee the internal phases of an exciting £10m new build development in Bristol. Reporting to and with support from the Project Manager, you'll play a key role in bringing this transformative community space to life, ensuring seamless progress and unwavering standards.

Key Responsibilities

Provide regular updates on the progress of internal construction phases, including partitioning, mechanical and electrical installations, and finishing works.
Oversee daily site operations for internal elements such as flooring, ceilings, plumbing, and HVAC systems, ensuring high standards of workmanship.
Implement and enforce health and safety protocols specific to internal build activities, including risk assessments for confined spaces and electrical hazards, whilst consulting with the Senior Project Manager on complex issues.
Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to maintain quality control on internal fittings and fixtures, escalating any concerns to the Project Manager for strategic resolution.
Monitor internal works against project timelines, collaborating with the Senior Project Manager to address delays and optimise resource allocation to meet deadlines.
Conduct toolbox talks and safety training for site personnel on internal construction risks, with oversight and resources provided by the Project Manager to ensure compliance.
Review and approve method statements and quality plans for internal trades, ensuring compliance with client specifications.
Work closely with the Senior Project Manager to address client feedback on internal element quality, implementing corrective actions to maintain project standards.
Maintain accurate site documentation, including health and safety records and snagging lists for internal completions, for review and audit purposes.
Promote sustainable practices in internal build processes, such as waste reduction and energy-efficient installations, aligning with the Senior Project Manager’s guidance on budget and environmental objectives.

Requirements

Proven experience working with a Tier 1 national contractor.
Hold current Black CSCS card, SMSTS certification, and First Aid at Work qualification.
Background in academic construction or internal trades (highly desirable).
