Well established principal contractor with a long reputation of delivering projects across East Anglia, working across a number of sectors including Commercial, Healthcare, Defence and Education, as well as key frameworks across the region.
Your new role
Design Manager required to support on the design delivery of two high-profile refurbishment projects, each valued at around £5 million. This is a freelance opportunity for a proactive and detail-oriented professional to join the team and drive technical excellence across RIBA Stages 4 and 5.
Key Responsibilities:

Manage and coordinate the technical design process through Stage 4, ensuring full compliance with project requirements and regulations.
Oversee construction phase design management (Stage 5), resolving design queries and ensuring buildability.
Lead integration of Contractor's Design Portions (CDP), working closely with specialist subcontractors and consultants.
Collaborate with project teams, architects, engineers, and site managers to ensure smooth design delivery.
Monitor design progress, manage risks, and maintain quality standards throughout the project lifecycle.

What you'll need to succeed

Proven experience as a Design Manager on refurbishment projects of similar scale (£5m+).
Strong working knowledge of RIBA Stages 4 & 5.
Demonstrated expertise in managing Contractor's Design Portions (CDP).
Excellent communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
