Building Services Manager

You’ll be instrumental in building systems, processes, and capabilities as the business continues its expansion.
This is not a “plug and play” role — it’s an opportunity to create, build, and lead. You’ll oversee the full lifecycle of mechanical and electrical (M&E) design and build projects, develop internal systems, and contribute to business growth through relationship building and strategic development.
You’ll bring experience in design management, team leadership, project delivery, and process improvement, ideally within an environment committed to quality, sustainability, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities

Lead the mechanical and electrical department across the full project lifecycle (RIBA Stages 1–6)
*
Oversee M&E design for low energy and sustainable buildings across domestic, commercial, and public sectors
*
Manage and mentor junior and senior engineers, fostering technical excellence and professional growth
*
Develop and implement scalable internal systems and processes to support business growth
*
Provide expert input into design calculations, technical reports, and documentation
*
Drive operational excellence and continuous improvement across project delivery
*
Collaborate closely with construction teams during design, installation, and commissioning phases
*
Build and strengthen relationships with clients, suppliers, and stakeholders
*
Contribute to business development through networking and identifying new project opportunities
*
Support the company’s commitment to sustainability and the UK’s Net Zero 2050 objectives
About You

Strong technical foundation in mechanical and electrical building services design
*
Demonstrable leadership experience with the ability to inspire and develop teams
*
Hands-on approach with a focus on delivery and accountability
*
Experience in both design and build environments, ideally within a contractor or consultancy setting
*
Strategic mindset with the ability to shape systems, processes, and culture
*
Confident communicator and relationship builder with commercial awareness
