Structural Design Engineer

On behalf of a highly successful main contractor, we are keen to speak with motivated and detail-driven Structural Design Engineers to join their in-house Structural Design team. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects within a supportive, hands-on construction environment.
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone who is:
* Flexible, motivated, and enthusiastic
* Confident in applying basic structural engineering principles
* Experienced in British construction methods, products, and standards
* Skilled in design using British Standards and Eurocodes for steel, concrete, masonry, and timber structures
* Competent in producing detailed designs using both hand calculations and modern software tools
* Proficient in Tekla Structural Designer and Tedds
* Able to communicate clearly through reports, sketches, and verbal discussions
* Comfortable attending site visits, meetings, and responding to site queries
Typical Workload
As part of the role, you will:
* Check third-party designs for both permanent and temporary works
* Produce your own designs for temporary and permanent works
* Troubleshoot and resolve site-based technical issues
* Create 3D models and structural designs (predominantly reinforced concrete and steel frames) to explore options and value engineering opportunities
* Attend site to provide technical support and liaise with teams on design matters
