The Role
As Senior Estimator, you’ll lead the preparation of accurate, competitive tenders from first principles. You’ll work closely with senior management, clients, and suppliers to ensure each estimate reflects innovation, value, and commercial excellence.
This is a hands-on leadership role for a professional who thrives on collaboration, precision, and the challenge of high-profile civil engineering projects.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage tender preparation, ensuring accuracy and compliance with all requirements.
Liaise with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotations.
Identify and evaluate risks and opportunities at the pre-contract stage.
Oversee estimating activities from enquiry to final tender submission.
Prepare detailed cost plans, budgets, and cashflow forecasts.
Develop and negotiate comprehensive work packages.
Carry out take-offs and compile tenders from first principles.
Produce clear and compelling tender submissions and estimation reports.
Provide commercial insight during bid and proposal development.
Collaborate with project managers and site teams to ensure alignment on cost and programme.
What You’ll Bring
Degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or equivalent experience.
Proven track record in estimating for civil engineering projects.
Strong understanding of frameworks, competitive tenders, and negotiated contracts.
Proficiency with estimating software such as Conquest and digital take-off tools.
Excellent analytical, commercial, and negotiation skills.
Meticulous attention to detail with the ability to perform under pressure.
Clear communicator and confident collaborator across all project levels.
