Site Supervisor
The Opportunity
Our client is seeking a reliable and proactive Site Supervisor to join their team on the Newcastle Central Motorway East (CME) scheme. This is a permanent role with excellent scope for development and progression into Site Agent level under the guidance of senior management.
This role will suit an experienced highways professional with proven site-based supervision experience, hands-on knowledge of highways maintenance and civils works, and the ability to lead site teams effectively.
Key Responsibilities
* Supervise day-to-day site activities, ensuring works are delivered safely, on programme, and to the required quality standards.
* Direct and coordinate site operatives, subcontractors, and suppliers to maintain efficient progress.
* Monitor compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards on site.
* Carry out daily briefings, toolbox talks, and ensure method statements and risk assessments are followed.
* Support the Site Agent and Project Manager with planning, reporting, and programme updates.
* Maintain site records including daily diaries, labour returns, and material usage.
* Ensure works are delivered to specification, with a focus on highways structures, concrete repair, and roadworks.
* Act as a key point of contact for site operatives and subcontractors, ensuring clear communication and instructions.
Key Requirements
* Experience as a Site Supervisor or General Foreman within highways / civil engineering.
* Strong highways background with knowledge of roadworks, concrete repair, and civil infrastructure.
* Excellent understanding of health & safety and site compliance.
* Confident in supervising operatives, subcontractors, and suppliers.
* Ability to keep accurate records and support reporting requirements.
* Team player with strong communication skills.
* Must be based in, or willing to relocate to, the North East.
* Full UK driving licence.
Qualifications
* SSSTS or SMSTS (essential).
* CSCS (essential).
* First Aid (essential).
* Relevant NVQ or trade background (desirable).
Package
* Salary: circa £40,000 – £45,000 per annum.
