Red Sky Personnel are recruiting on behalf of a leading UK construction services and supply company for a Material Planner to join their team in Walsall.

This is a great opportunity for someone organised and detail-oriented to help ensure materials are always available, stock levels are managed efficiently, and operations run smoothly across procurement, logistics, and sales.

The Role

As a Material Planner, you'll make sure materials are available to meet customer demand while keeping inventory levels balanced. You'll work closely with procurement, suppliers, warehouse, and sales teams to ensure everything flows efficiently through the supply chain.

Key Responsibilities

Planning & Inventory Management

Set and manage stock levels, lead times, and reorder points
Review demand forecasts and customer orders to plan materials accurately
Maintain the right balance between stock availability and cos
Identify slow-moving or obsolete stock and suggest improvements

Supplier & Procurement Support

Work with procurement to raise and manage purchase orders
Monitor supplier performance and resolve any issues with delays or shortages
Build strong relationships with suppliers to maintain reliable supply

Operational Coordination

Work with warehouse teams to manage stock movement and rotation
Support sales and customer service teams with stock availability updates
Coordinate with logistics to ensure timely deliveries

Reporting & Analysis

Produce regular reports on stock levels, supplier performance, and forecasts
Track key performance indicators (KPIs) like service levels and stock turns
Use data to spot trends and recommend ways to improve performance

About You

Essential:

Experience in materials planning, inventory management, or procurement (ideally in a distribution or wholesale setting)
Good computer skills and attention to detail
Working knowledge of CRM systems
Strong understanding of supply chain and procurement practices

Desirable:

CIPS qualification (or currently studying towards it)
Experience working in a data-driven environment
