We are currently recruiting for a Site Manager to join a major substation build project in Leeds, forming part of a significant upgrade to the UK’s electricity transmission network. This project, known as Captain, supports the wider Yorkshire GREEN initiative — a key National Grid development connecting renewable energy sources across Northern Scotland and Yorkshire.
About the Project
The works involve the construction of a new high-voltage direct current (HVDC) substation, which will play a critical role in transporting renewable energy more efficiently across the country. This complex and high-value scheme includes:

Site establishment and ground preparation.

Civil engineering and foundation works.
*
Installation of grounding grids and steel structures.
*
Construction of control buildings and electrical infrastructure.
The Role
As the Site Manager, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient delivery of works on site, ensuring compliance with client requirements, quality standards, and health & safety procedures. You will coordinate subcontractors, manage day-to-day site activities, and work closely with the project team to maintain progress and productivity.
Key Responsibilities

Manage and oversee daily site operations, including subcontractor coordination.

Ensure strict adherence to H&S standards and site procedures.

Maintain accurate site records, progress reports, and quality documentation.

Liaise with engineers, clients, and the wider delivery team.

Drive the programme to meet deadlines and ensure all works are completed to specification.
Requirements
*
SMSTS, CSCS and First Aid certification (essential).
*
Proven experience in substation, utilities, or civil infrastructure projects.
*
Strong understanding of H&S compliance and site management.
*
Excellent communication and leadership skills.
*
Ability to work independently and proactively manage multiple work fronts.
