Elvet Recruitment have been appointed to recruit a Payroll & benefits Advisor for a leading residential contractor for their offices in the Newcastle area.

Our client is a well regarded and established contractor who operate with a number of disciplines within the residential area within construction.

The main purpose of this role is ensure accuracy and timeliness across all payroll services to approximately 11,000 employees, in line with agreed SLAs and KPIs.

What You’ll Be Doing:

* Ensure all payroll and benefits activities are compliant with current legislation and internal policies.

* Work in accordance with established payroll and pension procedures, including:

* Inputting and validating variable data.

* Managing the full payroll cycle from data entry through to BACS file creation.

* Administering absences (e.g. SSP, SMP, SAP, SPP).

* Processing all statutory and voluntary pay deductions accurately.

* Collaborating with line managers and HR partners to resolve payroll and benefits queries.

* Managing tax code changes, and producing P45s, P60s, and RTI submissions.

* Carrying out payroll and benefits reconciliations, identifying and resolving discrepancies in line with policy and legislation.

* Preparing and submitting annual pension returns.

* Processing pension amendments and managing auto-enrolment activities.

* Reconciling pension data and uploading information to provider portals.

* Maintaining and updating the benefits portal for new starters and monthly adjustments.

* Supporting the administration of the annual benefits window, ensuring all payments and deductions are calculated and recorded accurately.

What We’re Looking For:

* Proven experience within a payroll or pensions team, ideally in a high-volume, transactional processing environment.

* Strong working knowledge of payroll systems and software (e.g. SAP, Oracle, ADP).

* Exceptional attention to detail, with well-developed analytical and problem-solving abilities.

* Excellent communication skills, with the confidence to collaborate effectively with line managers, HR colleagues, and external partners.

* Solid understanding of GDPR principles, demonstrating discretion and professionalism when handling sensitive information.

Role Information:

* Hybrid opportunity

* 24 days annual leave (+ public holidays)

* Monday to Friday

* Up to £30,000 DOE
