Role Overview

The Estimator will play a key role in the pre-construction process, assisting in the effective and efficient management of tenders and budgets to secure new work. Working under regular supervision, the successful candidate will be responsible for setting up and managing all aspects of the tendering process — ensuring accuracy, competitiveness, and compliance throughout.

Key Responsibilities

* Prepare budgets and tenders for new projects

* Support the Pre-Construction Director in all related duties

* Manage and maintain a tender diary, ensuring all submission dates are met

* Review and collate tender documents, drawings, and amendments

* Undertake take-offs (manual and digital) and prepare Bills of Quantities

* Issue and manage subcontractor enquiries, collate quotations, and evaluate returns

* Input accurate costs into tender documents and prepare comparison reports

* Oversee the post-tender process, including queries and negotiations through to contract signature

* Conduct tender handover meetings with the construction team, ensuring smooth project transitions

* Maintain and update the subcontractor database

* Attend site visits and contribute to pre-construction assessments

* Carry out general administration, filing, and document management in line with company standards

* Uphold high standards of quality, compliance, and professionalism in all areas of work

About You

* Proven experience working as an Estimator within construction or refurbishment

* Ability to read and interpret a variety of technical and written documents

* Strong IT skills, including Word, Excel, and Outlook

* Excellent communication, time management, and organisational skills

* Able to work independently and collaboratively within a team

* Self-motivated, enthusiastic, and reliable with a professional approach

* Full UK driving licence
