Estimator – Building & Refurbishment Contractor | London, Hertfordshire & Home Counties

Our client is a well-established building contractor and refurbishment specialist operating across London, Hertfordshire, and the Home Counties. With a proven track record of delivering high-quality projects across the NHS, education, commercial, and luxury residential sectors, our client takes pride in providing tailored solutions that meet the unique needs of each client.

They are now seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Estimator to join their growing pre-construction team. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a respected contractor known for quality craftsmanship, integrity, and technical expertise.

The Role

As an Estimator, you’ll play a vital role in the pre-construction and tendering process, preparing accurate cost estimates and supporting the successful delivery of building and refurbishment projects. Working closely with directors, project managers, and subcontractors, you will help ensure projects are competitively priced, compliant, and delivered to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities

* Prepare accurate tenders, cost plans, and budgets for upcoming projects

* Analyse drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare comprehensive estimates

* Source and liaise with subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring best value and reliability

* Evaluate returned quotations and prepare comparison summaries

* Maintain and update cost databases, tender files, and subcontractor records

* Collaborate with the project and commercial teams to ensure smooth handover from pre-construction to delivery

* Attend site visits and meetings as required to support project assessments and pricing accuracy

* Assist in developing and maintaining relationships with clients, consultants, and the supply chain

About You

* Proven experience as an Estimator within the construction or refurbishment industry

* Strong understanding of building techniques, materials, and procurement

* Excellent numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills

* Proficient in Microsoft Office and relevant estimating software

* Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment

* Strong communication and organisational skills, with attention to detail

* Full UK driving licence
