Decarbonisation Project Manager
Decarbonisation Project Manager
Salary: £58,000
Location: Surrey (Flexible Working)
Are you driven by making real, lasting environmental change while helping vulnerable communities? This role allows you to combine your technical and project skills with purpose, working within an organisation that supports homeless and vulnerable people and is deeply committed to becoming a net-zero leader in social housing.
Key Responsibilities
Formulate and implement comprehensive decarbonisation strategies aligned with the organisation's net-zero and sustainability goals.
Manage retrofit, refurbishment, and energy efficiency schemes from inception to handover, ensuring technical quality, regulatory compliance, optimal cost management, and excellent tenant engagement.
Collaborate closely with asset management, property services, housing support teams, contractors, and residents to deliver projects that are socially as well as technically successful.
Monitor progress, assess building conditions, perform building pathology, and ensure continuous improvement and reporting in line with standards like PAS 2035 & the SRS (Sustainability Reporting Standard).
This is more than compliance; the organisation is carbon neutral, has adopted the Sustainability Reporting Standard, and is investing in major energy efficiency schemes (e.g. improving 100+ homes via insulation, low-carbon heating, solar panels) to reduce fuel poverty and environmental impact.
Essential Skills & Experience
Demonstrable experience managing decarbonisation or retrofit projects in the social housing or similar sectors.
Strong technical knowledge of renewable energy technologies, low-carbon heating, insulation, solar PV, etc., plus familiarity with PAS 2035 or equivalent frameworks.
Experience leading complex refurbishment or retrofit programmes, including budgets, contractors, compliance, and resident liaison.
Good understanding of building pathology/asset condition surveys and how to translate findings into project specifications.
Solid leadership & communication skills: capable of motivating multi-disciplinary teams and working sensitively with vulnerable tenant/resident populations.
If you are looking for a role where your work will have both technical heft and social impact, helping to decarbonise homes, reduce fuel poverty, protect the environment, and improve lives, this is a fantastic opportunity.
