Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Finishing Foreman to lead and supervise the final stages of construction projects. This is a hands-on, site-based role that demands exceptional attention to detail, leadership, and the ability to manage multiple trades effectively.
Key Responsibilities
1. Site Supervision & Quality Control
Oversee and coordinate all finishing trades, including plastering, painting, tiling, flooring, joinery, and snagging works.
Ensure all works are carried out to specification, technical drawings, and building regulations.
Conduct regular inspections to identify and rectify defects promptly.
Manage and close out snagging lists to deliver a flawless finish before handover.
2. Health & Safety Compliance
Champion a strong health and safety culture on site.
Ensure strict compliance with UK building regulations and health & safety legislation.
Prepare and review RAMS (Risk Assessments and Method Statements).
Ensure correct use of PPE and adherence to all safety protocols.
3. Team & Subcontractor Management
Coordinate and oversee subcontractors to maintain high-quality standards.
Communicate effectively with contract managers, site managers, and trades.
Lead and motivate finishing teams to ensure productivity, quality, and schedule adherence.
4. Progress Monitoring & Reporting
Track and report on finishing works progress, escalating issues or delays.
Attend regular site meetings and provide accurate project updates.
Liaise with procurement teams to ensure materials are available on time.
5. Handover & Client Liaison
Support final inspections and ensure all finishes meet required standards.
Engage with clients and stakeholders to guarantee satisfaction.
Address last-minute snagging or modifications swiftly and professionally.
Requirements
Essential Skills & Experience
Proven experience as a Finishing Foreman or similar position.
In-depth knowledge of finishing trades and techniques.
Strong ability to read and interpret drawings, plans, and specifications.
Excellent leadership, team management, and communication skills.
Proactive problem-solver with meticulous attention to detail.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Solid understanding of health & safety regulations.
Qualifications (Essential)
NVQ Level 3 or higher in a relevant construction trade (this is a mandatory requirement).
Valid CSCS card (Supervisor level preferred).
SMSTS or SSSTS certification.
First Aid at Work certification (desirable).
Full UK driving licence.
Willingness to travel to various project sites as required.
Working Conditions
Site-based role with regular travel across multiple projects.
Core working hours: Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend work.
Indoor and outdoor working environments depending on project stage.
Additional duties as assigned by line management.
Participation in monthly one-to-one performance reviews.
