Senior Quantity Surveyor – Specialist Construction Contractor (Liverpool)

Salary: £55,000 – £65,000 + package

Your new role

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to take the commercial lead on a portfolio of specialist construction projects based in and around Liverpool. This is a pivotal role within the business, offering autonomy, responsibility, and the opportunity to mentor junior team members.

You will oversee all financial and contractual aspects of projects, ensuring profitability, client satisfaction, and adherence to commercial best practices.

Responsibilities will include:

Leading the commercial management of multiple projects simultaneously.

Preparing and managing valuations, applications for payment, and final accounts.

Overseeing procurement, tendering, and subcontractor negotiation.

Monitoring project performance, costs, and budgets against forecasts.

Managing risk, change control, and contractual obligations.

Producing monthly cost and value reports for senior management.

Liaising with project teams, clients, and external stakeholders to maintain strong commercial relationships.

Supporting strategic business growth through input into tenders and commercial planning.

Mentoring and supporting junior members of the commercial team.

What you will need to succeed:

Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor or experienced QS ready to step up.

Background in construction or specialist subcontracting (e.g., interiors, fire protection, or building envelope).

Strong understanding of JCT contracts and commercial management principles.

Excellent negotiation, analytical, and leadership skills.

Ability to work independently while collaborating across teams.

Degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent qualification.
