Company Overview

A leading civil engineering and construction contractor is seeking an experienced Estimator to join their commercial team in Northolt, Middlesex.

The company has over 30 years’ experience delivering groundworks, basement, and reinforced concrete (RC) frame projects across London and the Home Counties. They are known for their technical excellence, safety record, and long-term client relationships with some of the UK’s most recognised developers and main contractors.

Role Overview

For this Estimator role, the successful candidate will be responsible for preparing competitive and accurate cost estimates for RC frame and groundworks projects. You will work closely with the Commercial Director and Pre-Construction team to ensure tenders are delivered on time, within budget, and to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate cost estimates for groundworks and RC frame projects.
• Analyse drawings, specifications, and tender documents.
• Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotations.
• Prepare bills of quantities and take-offs using standard measurement methods.
• Attend pre-tender and post-tender meetings.
• Support the commercial and operations teams during handover.
• Identify value engineering opportunities and potential project risks.
• Assist in bid submissions, tender presentations, and client negotiations.

Required Skills and Experience

• Minimum 5 years’ experience as an Estimator within the groundworks and reinforced concrete (RC) frame sector.
• Proven ability to price packages ranging from £1m–£50m+.
• Strong understanding of construction methodologies and sequencing.
• Proficient in estimating software such as Causeway, ConQuest, or Excel.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
• Strong communication and client-facing skills.
• HNC/HND or Degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or Construction Management (preferred).

• Salary: £65,000 – £75,000, depending on experience.
