Site Manager (groundworks)

BCS Connect are seeking an experienced Site Manager for a long-term freelance role based in the Tewkesbury area.

This position is ideal for someone with a strong groundworks background, particularly on housing development projects. The successful candidate will take full responsibility for managing on-site operations and ensuring work is delivered safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities:

* Oversee all groundworks activities including foundations, house drainage, external finishes, and general site management.

* Coordinate and manage gangs of 30–40 operatives on site.

* Liaise directly with the client, subcontractors, and suppliers to maintain progress and quality.

* Conduct daily safety briefings, toolbox talks, and site inductions to ensure all operatives work safely and understand their responsibilities.

* Enforce and monitor health & safety compliance across the site.

* Maintain site records, progress reports, and ensure adherence to project timelines.

* Assist with material ordering and resource planning.

Requirements:

* Proven experience in groundworks for housing projects.

* SMSTS or CSCS Black Card certification (essential).

* 1st Aid at work

* Strong leadership and communication skills.

* Ability to manage multiple gangs and deliver work to deadlines.

* Solid understanding of site safety and construction regulations.

Role Details:

* Location: Tewkesbury area

* Duration: Up to 2 years

* Start Date: 3rd November

* Pay Rate: £270 – £290 per day (freelance)
