Our client, a leading specialist contractor within the Passive Fire Protection industry, is seeking a Technical Manager to oversee all technical and compliance-related aspects of fire-stopping and compartmentation projects. This role is ideal for someone with strong technical knowledge and leadership ability, looking to take ownership of technical standards, installer competence, and accreditation management across the business.

Responsibilities:

Lead all technical assurance activities across live and upcoming projects, ensuring installations meet manufacturer specifications, certification body requirements, and current industry standards.

Manage and develop the company’s technical team, supporting Technical Advisors and Supervisors to ensure consistent delivery and continuous improvement.

Oversee internal and external auditing processes, including Firas compliance and technical documentation, ensuring readiness for certification audits.

Produce and approve project-specific technical designs, drawings, and product selections to meet performance and compliance requirements.

Deliver internal and site-based training sessions to develop the knowledge and competency of installation teams.

Act as the primary point of contact for technical queries from clients, certification bodies, and internal departments.

Conduct site audits and pre-start technical reviews, advising on suitable systems, products, and installation methodology.

Work closely with operations, design, and compliance teams to develop best practice procedures and drive continuous improvement across all technical functions.

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant regulations, standards, and innovations in passive fire protection.

About You:

Proven experience in the Passive Fire Protection industry within a technical, compliance, or supervisory role.

Strong understanding of fire-stopping systems, compartmentation, and relevant certification schemes (e.g. FIRAS, BM TRADA).

Minimum IFE Level 2 (Passive Fire Protection) – Level 3 or equivalent desirable.

Excellent understanding of engineering drawings and technical documentation.

Confident communicator with the ability to train, mentor, and influence others.

Competent user of digital recording software such as Bolster, OneTrace, or similar platforms.

Strong IT literacy (Word, Excel, Outlook) and report writing skills.
