Development / Project Manager – Building Safety & Remediation
Location: Essex
Salary: £50,000 to £70,000 + package
A leading specialist in building safety and remediation is seeking a Development/Project Manager to help deliver complex works across a residential portfolio. This role is more aligned to a Project Manager than a traditional Development Manager and requires someone confident navigating contracts, stakeholders, and legal processes.
The Role
You'll be instrumental in taking projects from pre-contract through to agreement, ensuring all works are approved by the relevant responsible entities. The properties are not owned by the organisation, but there is a legal obligation to carry out the works, so clear communication, coordination, and stakeholder management are essential.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee the process of getting projects into contract
Draft and support creation of new contracts
Liaise with responsible entities to gain approvals for remedial works
Work closely with internal teams – technical, commercial, and build
Lead project coordination and monitor progress
Manage significant legal and contractual elements
Engage with clients, housing associations and local authorities
Interface regularly with external stakeholders and partnersWhat We're Looking For
Strong people skills with proven ability to manage clients and public-sector stakeholders
Confident working independently and thinking proactively
Experience in housing associations, local authorities, or main contracting
Contract and/or legal understanding is highly desirable
Employer's Agent (EA) background would be a strong advantage
Ability to navigate complex approval and compliance processes
A collaborative communicator who can build relationships across teamsAdditional Information
There will be a learning curve of around three months to fully absorb the scope and processes, so someone adaptable and quick to pick things up will thrive here.
