£60k – £70k + £5750 Car Allowance

About the Role

As a Design Manager, you will lead and coordinate design activities across major civil engineering and infrastructure projects. You’ll manage internal and external design teams, ensuring all design deliverables meet contractual, technical, and programme requirements. Acting as the key technical interface between clients, consultants, and construction teams, you’ll help deliver innovative, cost-effective, and buildable design solutions.

Key Responsibilities

* Manage and coordinate design consultants to meet project programmes and quality standards.

* Review and ensure compliance with design and contract requirements.

* Chair design meetings and manage all technical communication between stakeholders.

* Lead design reviews with clients, consultants, and approval bodies.

* Oversee document control, design registers, and technical query procedures.

* Monitor progress, resolve design issues, and report updates to the Project Manager.

* Ensure designs are buildable, safe, and compliant with project and statutory standards.

About You

* Degree or HND/HNC in Civil Engineering or a related field.

* Minimum 5 years’ experience in design management within civil engineering or infrastructure.

* Background in both consultancy and contractor environments (preferred).

* Strong technical understanding of design and construction methods.

* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

* Knowledge of NEC/JCT contracts and design approval processes.

* Ability to lead, influence, and deliver under pressure
