Mechanical APEX Inspector

Sphere Solutions are currently looking for 8 Mechanical Apex Inspector's to start as soon as possible.

You will be responsible for performing hazardous equipment inspections in line with client schedules to ensure compliance with classification and BS EN 60079 standards. The role involves testing and verification of mechanical equipment and installations used in potentially explosive atmospheres (ATEX zones).

We are looking for 2 inspectors to work in Bristol, 4 to work in Thames and 2 to work in Yorkshire.

Role details:

* Perform inspections of mechanical equipment in hazardous areas

* Ensure all work complies with BS EN 60079 and ATEX standards

* Carry out testing and verification of mechanical installations

* Complete detailed inspection reports and maintain documentation

* Work closely with engineering teams to identify and resolve issues

* Uphold the highest standards of safety and compliance

Requirements:

* Recognised Mechanical Apprenticeship or equivalent training scheme

* HNC or equivalent qualification

* CompEx Ex11 Mechanical Certificate

* Strong knowledge of ATEX Directive, IEC 60079 series, and related mechanical standards

* Proven experience in inspection, maintenance, or engineering of mechanical equipment in hazardous areas (oil & gas, petrochemical, chemical, or similar industries)

* Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, P&IDs, and mechanical documentation

* Excellent reporting, communication, and problem-solving skills

* Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
