Your new role
Our client is seeking an experienced Bid Writer to join their established pre-construction and business development team. This role will involve managing and producing winning tender submissions for major public-sector and healthcare projects. You will play a key role in shaping proposals, developing persuasive bid narratives, and coordinating contributions from technical and commercial teams to secure new business opportunities.
Responsibilities will include:
Managing the full bid process from initial opportunity to submission and post-tender review.
Writing, editing, and formatting compelling bid and proposal documents for NHS and public-sector contracts.
Interpreting tender specifications, identifying win themes, and developing persuasive written content.
Collaborating with design, project, and commercial teams to gather technical input, case studies, and supporting material.
Maintaining and updating a central library of bid content, templates, and project case studies.
Ensuring all bids are compliant, high quality, and aligned with client requirements and company objectives.
Managing bid schedules, progress meetings, and submission deadlines to ensure timely delivery.
Supporting presentations and interviews as part of the tender clarification or award process.
Contributing to continuous improvement in bid strategy, style, and success rates.
What you will need to succeed:
Proven experience as a Bid Writer / Proposal Writer / Tender Writer within construction, engineering, or a related technical sector.
Strong understanding of public-sector procurement, ideally with experience on healthcare projects up to £20 million.
Excellent written communication skills with the ability to translate technical information into persuasive, client-focused language.
Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously under tight deadlines.
A collaborative and proactive approach to working with cross-functional teams.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint; experience with document management or bid software is advantageous.
APMP accreditation or a willingness to work toward it would be beneficial.
