Principal Structural Engineer
Bristol | £55,000 – £65,000 + Hybrid + Bonus

About the Role
An established civil and structural consultancy is looking for a Principal Structural Engineer to join their growing team in Bristol. This position offers the opportunity to take technical ownership of a range of projects, leading design coordination and supporting the delivery of high-quality structural solutions across multiple sectors.

You’ll play a key role in managing design output, liaising with clients and multidisciplinary teams, and mentoring junior engineers. This is a great opportunity for an experienced engineer looking to take the next step in their career within a collaborative and forward-thinking environment.

Key Responsibilities

* Act as the technical lead on a variety of building and infrastructure projects.

* Coordinate with internal design teams and external consultants to deliver integrated engineering solutions.

* Carry out structural inspections, assessments and designs for both new-build and refurbishment schemes in steel, concrete, masonry and timber.

* Produce design calculations and reports using relevant software such as Tekla Structural Designer.

* Review and check drawings, specifications and technical documents to maintain quality and consistency.

* Prepare professional engineering reports, including structural surveys and design appraisals.

* Provide guidance, training and supervision to less experienced engineers and technicians.

About You

* Degree qualified in Structural or Civil Engineering (BEng/MEng).

* Chartered, or close to achieving chartered status (MIStructE or MICE).

* Broad project experience across a variety of building types and construction materials.

* Strong knowledge of Eurocodes and UK building regulations.

* Excellent communication, report writing and numerical skills.

* Proficiency with analysis and design software (e.g. Tekla Structural Designer, Tedds, or similar).

* Proven track record of working in a similar consultancy role.
