About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) Clerk of Works to oversee the installation, quality, and compliance of all building services on a landmark high-rise residential development in the heart of Birmingham.
As the M&E Clerk of Works, you will play a key role in ensuring that all mechanical and electrical works are delivered safely, to the highest quality standards, and in accordance with design specifications, building regulations, and project programme requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Monitor and inspect M&E installations across all stages of construction.
Ensure works are carried out to approved drawings, specifications, and industry standards.
Identify and record defects or non-conformances, and follow up to ensure corrective actions are taken.
Work closely with contractors, consultants, and the client team to resolve on-site technical issues.
Review M&E test and commissioning documentation for completeness and compliance.
Provide clear, concise daily and weekly progress reports.
Promote best practice in health, safety, and environmental standards on site.
Requirements
Proven experience as an M&E Clerk of Works, M&E Inspector, or Building Services Engineer on large-scale residential or mixed-use projects.
Strong technical understanding of mechanical and electrical building services (HVAC, plumbing, fire safety, electrical distribution, lighting, etc.).
Excellent attention to detail and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and proactively within a site-based environment.
Relevant qualifications (HNC/HND or degree in Building Services Engineering or related discipline preferred).
