About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Design Manager to join our expanding North West team within a leading Tier 1 main contractor. This is a key role within our regional operations, overseeing the design coordination and delivery of a diverse portfolio of projects including local authority, Ministry of Defence (MoD), commercial, high-rise residential, and government-backed schemes.

Working closely with pre-construction, technical, and project delivery teams, you will take ownership of the design process – ensuring that innovative, buildable, and commercially viable solutions are delivered to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities

Manage and coordinate the design process from tender through to handover.

Lead design meetings with consultants, clients, and internal stakeholders.

Ensure compliance with client requirements, statutory regulations, and company procedures.

Review and manage design deliverables to meet programme, cost, and quality targets.

Provide technical guidance and support to project teams.

Drive collaboration between design, procurement, and construction functions.

Manage design risk and change control processes effectively.

About You

We are looking for a proactive and solutions-focused professional with:

Proven experience as a Design Manager within a Tier 1 or Tier 2 main contractor, or a strong regional contractor.

A solid understanding of design management processes across multiple sectors.

Experience working on public sector, MoD, and complex commercial or high-rise projects.

Excellent communication, coordination, and stakeholder management skills.

A keen eye for detail and commitment to delivering excellence.

Relevant qualifications in architecture, engineering, or construction management (preferred).
