Technical Manager/Technical Co-Ordinator
We’re working with a highly respected construction company that is seeking an experienced Technical Manager to join their growing Design & Build team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the technical delivery of complex construction projects — from planning approval through to completion.
As the Technical Manager, you’ll take primary responsibility for design management and coordination across multiple schemes, ensuring efficient, compliant, and buildable designs that meet both commercial and operational objectives.
It is essential to have High-Rise project experience for this role.
Key Responsibilities:

Manage and coordinate the design process across multiple projects from pre-construction through to completion.

Review design compliance, buildability, and value engineering opportunities with commercial and operations teams.

Develop and manage project-specific design programmes aligned with overall development and procurement schedules.
*
Oversee and manage external design consultants and specialist subcontractors, ensuring delivery against briefs, budgets, and deadlines.
*
Review consultant and specialist designs, including off-site construction and modern methods of construction (MMC).
*
Lead design meetings and workshops to ensure coordination across all design disciplines, including structures, façade, MEP, and internal specifications.
*
Manage design deliverables to achieve efficient, compliant, and cost-effective outcomes.

Coordinate statutory submissions and approvals, including building regulations, planning conditions, warranties, utilities, and party wall matters.
*
Support the development of contractor’s proposals, technical specifications, and employer’s requirements.

Identify opportunities for design innovation and continuous improvement across all projects.
About You:

Degree or Higher Diploma in Architecture, Engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
*
Minimum 5 years’ post-qualification experience in design management, ideally within a main contractor or developer environment.

Proven experience managing high-rise residential or mixed-use design and build schemes.
*
Strong working knowledge of UK Building Regulations, technical standards, and modern construction methods.
*
Ability to manage multiple design programmes and deliver under pressure.
*
Excellent communication, coordination, and leadership skills.
*
Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality, buildable designs.
*
A proactive problem-solver who takes ownership and drives progress across all stages of design.
