️ Freelance Planner – HS2 Heavy Civils & Environmental Works 🏗️

Are you a highly experienced Freelance Planner looking for a challenging role on the prestigious HS2 project? We are seeking a skilled professional to join our team, focusing on the heavy civils and environmental works packages. This is a critical role that demands expertise in project controls, particularly around planning and reporting under the NEC contract framework.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and Maintain Programme: Create and manage detailed project programmes (schedules) for heavy civils (e.g., earthworks, structures, tunnels) and associated environmental works (e.g., habitat creation, mitigation schemes).

NEC Reporting & Compliance: Implement and manage robust reporting procedures in line with the NEC contract requirements, specifically regarding the programme submissions, delay analysis, and early warnings.

Change Management: Proactively track, analyse, and integrate design and construction change events into the programme, assessing their impact on the critical path and planned completion dates.

Progress Monitoring: Regularly monitor site progress, liaise with construction teams, and update the programme accordingly to ensure accurate and reliable reporting.

Stakeholder Communication: Present programme status, performance metrics, and potential risks to project managers, clients, and subcontractors.

Essential Requirements

Proven experience as a Project Planner on large-scale, complex heavy civils infrastructure projects (ideally rail or motorway, HS2 experience highly advantageous).

Demonstrable expertise in planning and reporting under the NEC (Engineering and Construction Contract) suite, with a solid understanding of its clauses relating to programming and compensation events.

Strong technical background in planning software (e.g., Primavera P6).

Experience integrating environmental works and mitigation measures into construction programmes.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team.
