We’re looking for an Estimator to join a leading contractor delivering complex earthworks and remediation projects across Yorkshire and the Northwest. This is a key role for a commercially astute professional with technical knowledge of brownfield regeneration and contaminated land projects or civil engineering / groundworks.
The Role
You will be responsible for preparing accurate, competitive, and comprehensive estimates for remediation and earthworks. Your work will support successful tender submissions and contribute to profitable project delivery.
Responsibilities

Prepare detailed estimates for earthworks & remediation
*
Analyse project drawings, specifications, and tender documents
*
Develop accurate cost plans and bills of quantities
*
Liaise with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to gather pricing information
*
Identify risks, contingencies, and cost-saving opportunities
*
Ensure estimates are commercially viable and aligned with company strategy
*
Prepare tender reports and present recommendations to senior management
*
Maintain a database of costs, materials, and subcontractor rates
*
Monitor market trends and material price fluctuations
*
Support pre-construction planning and value engineering exercises
*
Attend client meetings and site visits as required
*
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards in project planning
*
Collaborate with internal teams to optimise project delivery and profitability
*
Provide guidance and support to junior estimating staff
*
Keep accurate records of tenders, submissions, and project costs
Requirements
*
Proven experience as an Estimator in earthworks, remediation, or civil engineering
*
Strong technical understanding of contaminated land and brownfield projects
*
Excellent commercial awareness and cost management skills
*
Strong communication, analytical, and organisational skills
*
Proficient with estimating software and Microsoft Office
*
Full UK driving licence
