Commissioning Manager – Central London – 12 Months – Competitive Rate

We are currently working with an established engineering company seeking an experienced Commissioning Manager / Lead for a large-scale commercial development project in the heart of London.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising and coordinating all on-site commissioning activities, including those performed by subcontractors and direct labour. You will establish and implement commissioning procedures to ensure all systems are inspected, tested, and commissioned in accordance with project specifications and relevant standards.

Key Knowledge and Experience

Comprehensive understanding of the Commissioning Lead role

Strong commercial awareness

Familiarity with Health, Safety, and Environmental systems

Awareness of team strengths and development needs

Roles and Responsibilities

Oversee the commissioning process and deliver fully operational M&E systems to clients

Attend meetings with clients, subcontractors, and project teams to support M&E systems delivery

Lead by example, upholding high standards of safety and quality

Coordinate with other trades to ensure a smooth commissioning process

Identify required test equipment and ensure its proper use

Manage ITCA activities with Project Engineers and maintain the ITCA tracker

Assist Project Engineers with compiling handover packs, QA/QC documentation, and inspection reports

Manage subcontractor testing and commissioning activities, including witness testing and documentation review

Prepare and review Commissioning and Testing RAMS

Support the production of ‘as-built’ documentation and Health & Safety Files

Conduct quality control inspections during pre-commissioning and commissioning stages

Ensure contractor commissioning activities are properly coordinated and completed to required standards

Resolve commissioning issues promptly and maintain detailed site reports

Communicate progress effectively to key stakeholders, including clients, architects, and engineers

Provide people management support to the Project Manager

Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and EHS training requirements

Support HR processes, including grievance and disciplinary procedures when required

Ensure commissioning personnel are trained, competent, and working safely in line with company standards
