About the Employer

Our client is a growing building services and engineering contractor which began over 15 years ago as a local plumbing & heating company specialising in renewables.
Since then, they have evolved into a full-service mechanical & electrical (M&E) engineering business offering HVAC design, installation, maintenance and repair across commercial, industrial and public-sector projects.
They operate a nationwide contracting presence, with 70+ engineers on the road daily and a strong ethos of building long-lasting relationships with clients.
Sustainability is a core value: the company has committed to being carbon-neutral by 2030, net-zero by 2040 and carbon-positive by 2050, with active initiatives such as switching their offices to renewable energy and installing solar PV systems.
Working for this employer means joining a business with integrity, customer service at its heart and ambitious growth plans in MEP contracting.

The Role

We are seeking a seasoned MEP Project Manager who will take ownership of major mechanical and/or electrical building services projects from inception through to delivery and handover. The ideal candidate will have strong commercial and industrial experience (projects £5 million+).
Based from the Ipswich office, you will travel to customer sites — most of which lie along the A12 corridor and into London — and, as the business continues to grow, you may also cover wider geographic areas beyond.
The role suits candidates who specialise in mechanical or electrical services, or those who enjoy the challenge of managing both disciplines.

Key Responsibilities

Lead full-lifecycle delivery of MEP projects (typically £5 m plus) — from pre-construction, planning, procurement, through to commissioning and handover.

Develop and manage project budgets, schedules and deliverables; ensure projects are delivered safely, on time and within budget.

Coordinate and lead internal teams (engineering, design, site delivery) and external supply‐chain / subcontractors.

Build and nurture strong client relationships, liaising with main contractors, consultants and stakeholders.

Proactively manage risk, change control, quality assurance and compliance with health & safety standards.

Monitor and report project performance, financials and progress to senior management.

Travel regularly to site locations (primarily along the A12 corridor and London area) as required.

What We’re Looking For

Significant project management experience in commercial or industrial building services / MEP contracting, with projects at or above the £5 million mark.

Strong background in mechanical installations and/or electrical installations — we welcome candidates from either bias, or with experience of both.

Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, manage budgets, schedules, and deliver high-quality results.

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, comfortable working with clients, consultants and contractors.

Willingness to travel regularly to sites and customers (A12 corridor / London) and flexibility to cover other geographic areas as business expands.

A proactive, solutions-focused mindset, with commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement.

Valid driving licence (site travel required).

Why This Opportunity?

You’ll join a forward-thinking, sustainability-driven organisation with a national footprint and strong growth trajectory.

You’ll be working on major projects, providing leadership, autonomy, and the opportunity to make a significant impact.

The role offers variety, with a base in Ipswich but regular travel and the chance to broaden your geographical remit over time.

Inclusive and professional working culture, where diverse experience (mechanical, electrical or both) is valued.

How to Apply

If you are a seasoned MEP Project Manager seeking your next challenge and align with the above criteria, please send your CV and a brief cover note outlining your experience (mechanical vs electrical, project sizes, key achievements) via Harry Severn (). We’ll then discuss the role in more detail and arrange a confidential conversation with the employer.

We look forward to hearing from all candidates who meet the criteria — regardless of whether their expertise leans more mechanical, more electrical or spans both disciplines. Exceptional MEP project leadership is about delivering results, building relationships and being adaptable: if that describes you, we’d love to talk
