quantity Surveyor/ Estimator
We are looking to reruit an experienced Quantity Surveyor/Estimator to work in our head office Monday to Friday 08.00 – 17.00 based in Sleaford.
The candidate will report on a day-to-day basis to the Commercial Director but will have day to day interaction with our clients and other stakeholders within the business (Operations Director, SHEQ Manager, Project Managers, Quantity Surveyor, Design, Business Development, others as required).
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct site visits and gather all necessary data to assist with the preparation of detailed quotations and proposals.
* Interpret client requirements to enable detailed quotations and proposals to be developed.
* Interpret and review design drawings, plans, and specifications to prepare detailed cost estimates.
* Consult with engineers, architects, and contractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates.
* Raise and address RFI’s as required.
* Obtain supply chain quotations as required.
* Compute costs by analysing labour, material, and time requirements.
* Working with operational team, price off-site and on-site preliminaries requirements.
* Work with Commercial Director to develop and maintain a database of cost-related information such as subcontractor quotes, material costs, and labour rates.
* Work with Commercial Director to investigate different estimating packages available in the marketplace.
* Prepare and present cost reports and forecasts to Commercial Director and other internal stakeholders.
* Identify risk and suggest proposals to address risk.
* Support Commercial Director and QS in pricing variations.
* Collate feedback on both successful and failed bids.
Key Competencies
* Qualifications sufficient to perform the job role (construction related degree).
* Minimum of 5 years-experience in this type of job role.
* Experience in the industrial sector and food & beverage sector, albeit this is non-essential if the candidate has experience of working in similar markets.
* Advanced knowledge of construction methods and products.
* Experience of computer software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Microsoft Project, and Autodesk DWG TrueView) and estimating systems.
* Proficient in numeracy.
* Problem solving.
* Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
* Great attention to detail.
* Openness and honesty.
* Ability to work under pressure, and the capability to handle multiple tenders at once.
